Steps to Get Started

VR Helps Businesses Find and Keep Talent

If you are looking to diversify your workforce, look no further than VR. VR’s talent pool has the drive and skills you want, with the abilities, qualifications and dependability you need. Employers indicate that hiring our customers are loyal, enthusiastic and some of their most reliable employees. VR review your needs, offer qualified candidates and develop a training plan with you before the intern or employee begins employment.

Steps to Get Started

Number 1

Meet with a Business Relations Representative

VR Business Relations has a team around the state to meet with you to help your business achieve its competitive advantage by developing qualified job candidates who are trained in a wide variety of skills and have the good work habits that you value. Find a Business Relations Representative near you.

Number 2

Customizing to Meet Employer Needs

VR customizes programs to meet your specific business needs, as well as customized according to the skill level of the trainee. The specialist will assist you with any questions you may have and provide technical assistance during training as well as any follow-up services you may need.

Number 3

Pre-Screening Talent

Using information about available positions through the Abilities Help Desk, VR Business Relations works with VR Counselors and Providers to determine if a VR customer is not only interested in a position but also qualified for the position. This team determines whether or not to refer an individual to a position and assist the individual in applying for the position, if appropriate.

Number 4

Hiring and Onboarding

VR Business Relations partners with VR Counselors and Providers to complete job matching and referrals to open position with our business partners. Through classroom instruction and hands-on projects, VR customers learn the foundational soft skills and industry-specific job skills needed to work for you. VR even provides Workers’ Compensation coverage during this process. Programs include:

  • Apprenticeships
  • Customized training
  • Internships
  • On-the-job training

Tax credits and other financial incentives are available to help with training, orientation and accommodation during the hiring process.

Number 5

Training

VR provides disability awareness and etiquette training for employers and their staff to understand how to work with persons with disabilities. This includes:

  • Creating an Accessible and Welcoming Workplace
  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Employers’ Practical Guide to Reasonable Accommodations Under the ADA
  • Southeast Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center
  • Transportation Services for Transportation-disadvantaged Persons
  • Workplace Accommodation Toolkit

Number 6

Retaining

After a VR consumer is hired, we provide follow up services for 90-120 days, to make sure the VR customer and business are successful.
