Aware: New Case Management System
The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is excited to announce our transition to a new case management system called Aware that will improve the way we collaborate and serve people with disabilities.
Many VR agencies across the US effectively utilize Aware, including our counterparts at the Division of Blind Services. Aware will replace RIMS and other VR applications currently used to manage the rehabilitation and related records management processes.
The new system goes live the week of August 28, 2023.
What this means for customers
The new case management system will reduce our reliance on paper documentation, make customer information more secure and facilitate casework processes. During our transition to Aware, customers can still see their counselors and receive services. Individuals interested in learning more about VR services can complete referrals and attend orientation. Our goal is to improve how we handle customer cases with minimal impact on current and future customers during implementation.
What this means for the vendor and provider community
The new case management system will streamline requests for services from counselors and payment for services rendered. During our transition to Aware, providers and vendors will still receive payment for completed services. Services for customers can also be provided. We value the providers and vendors that support our customers. Our goal is to simplify the transition into Aware for our valued participants and partners.
VR is looking forward to the improvements this new system will bring to the processes we use to serve our customers and collaborate with our providers. To learn more about the system and access training and support materials please visit
