About the Stephen R. Wise
Advocacy Award

In 2013, the FRC created the Stephen R. Wise Advocacy Award to recognize a dedicated Florida leader and champion who promotes independence through work and community activities for individuals with disabilities.

Stephen R. Wise is a former member of the Florida House of Representatives (1988-2000) and Florida Senate (2002-2012). Throughout his career, he focused on the employment of people with developmental disabilities. His legacy includes the creation of the Florida Endowment Foundation for Vocational Rehabilitation (now known as The Able Trust).

The Stephen R. Wise Award is based on Senator Stephen R. Wise's passion and work championing the cause of helping persons with disabilities achieve independence through work and community activities. The award is given annually by the Florida Rehabilitation Council to a person whose passion and professional accomplishments through public service make a significant difference in the quality of life for persons with disabilities.

It is time to submit nominations for the Stephen R. Wise Advocacy Award recipient for 2021. This year, nominations will be made online.
